Ranking Every WWE NXT Commentator From Worst To Best

2. William Regal

These days, William Regal is best known for his work as NXT general manager as well as all the recruiting he helps do behind the scenes for the black-and-yellow brand. But alongside Jim Ross, he started out as one-half of the program's first-ever commentary team.

By the summer of 2012, Regal was far from an amateur at announcing. He had spent the previous 15 months calling the action on the original incarnation of NXT and quietly became one of the best commentators in the company. Obviously, he is unbelievably knowledgeable about the business, but he was also pretty hysterical with the anecdotes he would tell behind the booth.

Regal had always been a rather underrated talker, but being placed on commentary allowed his terrific talents to shine through. No matter whether it was JR, Tom Phillips, or Tony Dawson, Regal brought the best out of everyone he worked with.

It was bittersweet to see him ditch his announcing duties to take over the role of NXT GM in August 2014, but would it be too much to ask for him to put the headset back on just one more time in the not-so-distant future?
