Ranking Every WWE NXT WarGames Match From Worst To Best
4. Team Candice vs Team Shotzi (2020)
WarGames without a crowd wasn’t an ideal situation for anyone, but the women who opened NXT’s last 2020 TakeOver did so in immense style. This match rode the line between the brutality and ridiculousness available to the performers magnificently and saw each of the eight women prove why NXT’s female roster was one of the best in the business.
Candice LeRae was at the top of her heel game here and backed up by the ascendant Racquel Gonzalez, the technical excellence of Toni Storm, and wildcard Dakota Kai. Shotzi, meanwhile, brings powerhouse Rhea Ripley, returning Ember Moon, and MVP Io Shirai.
The Women’s Champion shone at the previous year’s event, but tops herself here in one of the silliest, most enjoyable spots of the year, climbing the cage, bafflingly putting a trash can over her head, then leaping off onto everyone.
Each participant gets their chance to take gnarly bumps, with Kai piling through chairs, Shotzi crushing herself with a weapons-assisted senton, and Shirai ultimately eating a Gonzalez powerbomb through a ladder. The slight odd note is the division champ taking the pin, but this is a breakneck, chaotic, but nonetheless slick match that absolutely flies by.
