Ranking Every WWE NXT WarGames Match From Worst To Best
2. Team Black & Gold vs Team 2.0 (2021)
Call it recency bias if you will, but the most recent dual cage encounter had a bit of everything, and could hardly have been better booked to provide a swansong for the old guard and a perfect platform for the new.
The main aim of the evening was clearly to make Bron Breakker look a million bucks, and the young Steiner performed admirably, lifting fools like they were pillows and spearing Ciampa through a table at the close.
Everyone got their chance to shine, though. Carmelo Hayes put on a brief chain wrestling clinic. Pete Dunne once again chose violence, breaking bones and stomping joints. Grayson Waller nabbed the high spot with a huge elbow from the top, LA Knight showed off his impressive workrate, and Tony D’Angelo was nice and brutal.
Best of all, though, Tomasso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano played the DIY hits to the baying crowd, landing their old double finisher on Breakker to a convincing near fall. For Gargano, especially, this was a night to remember. It might yet be his final NXT match, and it was an apt reminder of everything he’s given to the brand.
