Ranking Every WWE PPVs From 2017 (So Far)
1. Royal Rumble
With no bad match on the card, this year’s rendition of the Royal Rumble is proof that when WWE cuts out all the folderol and nonsense, they’re able to put on a fantastic show. Every match on the card delivered, including a good opener between Charlotte and Bayley, Neville taking his rightful place as the King of the Cruiserweights, and a Rumble match that had just enough big-name stars keep fans guessing who would win.
But what catapulted the show were the two world title matches. Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens had an incredibly entertaining No DQ match which featured enough toys, carnage, and Braun Strowman to consistently pop the crowd. However, the match that everyone ended up talking about was John Cena-AJ Styles III. It was undoubtedly the best of their three singles encounters, and what many would argue is the best WWE match of the decade, and it made an incredibly strong case for itself.
As WWE approaches SummerSlam, everyone wonders if they’ll pull the trigger on matches such as Styles-Nakamura or similar dream encounters. Hopefully they do, because the time’s running out for them to top a great show like the Royal Rumble before 2017 comes to an end.
