As we've noted, WWE seemed to have their wires royally crossed when it came to the overall look of last night's "Throwback" occasion. And another example of this came in the form of the announcers' choice of attire and the desk they were operating behind for much of the evening.

Yet, you won't catch your writer crapping all over the sight of Pat McAfee donning his best early '90s Vince McMahon costume for the event. Simply put, it was a thing of beauty. Clashing with his co-commentator, however, was Michael Cole who definitely appeared to have understood the assignment as he dusted off his old denim number from the late '90s. Jumping back into the strange '80s feel the company regularly went for on this old school SmackDown, though, the two called the night's action behind a minimalistic, black-cloth-covered table - just like the good ol' non-SmackDown days.

In-keeping with what should have been the theme of the evening, the referees tasked with controlling the chaos going down in the ring also opted for a retro SmackDown vibe with their choice of gear. The blue polos that became synonymous with the blue brand in the early 2000s were on show for the world to see, and it must be said, few would argue with bringing back this slick look full-time.
