Randy Orton united forces with The Wyatt Family in the latter half of 2016. 'The Apex Predator' tried to take Wyatt down, but his failures prompted him to join 'The Eater of the Worlds.' WWE booked the alliance to perfection as the faction performed dominantly at Survivor Series and seized the SmackDown Tag Team Championships at TLC.

The writers took the right decision as Heath Slater and Rhyno's reign ran its course till December 2016, which is why the division needed new champions. Wyatt-Orton's friendship drew attention towards the two-on-two wrestling section. In the background, the writers even sowed the seeds for a rift between Luke Harper and his master. Their regime lasted for less than four weeks, but it left a lasting impact on the division. American Alpha dethroned them as the champs in a fatal four-way match.

After dropping the belts, The Wyatt Family transitioned into the main event scene. Randy won the Royal Rumble while Bray picked up the WWE World Championship at Elimination Chamber. A future betrayal led to a clash between the two mind games specialists in the main event of WrestleMania 33.

Even Harper became a prominent face after the alliance exploded. The focal point of their tag team title reign was character development, and every member of the group became a star on the road to WrestleMania. Unfortunately, the storyline did not have a proper payoff.
