The Miz turned heel after an epic rivalry with Bray Wyatt. He was never a convincing babyface superstar in the first place, and fortunately, the writers ended his disastrous singles run on SmackDown by reuniting him with John Morrison. The self-proclaimed 'Greatest Tag Team of the 21st Century' entered the title picture soon and defeated The New Day to claim the number one position of the division.

The return of 'The Dirt Sheet,' comedic appearances at the commentators' desk, and some cool promos made sure that the pair's 50-day stay at the top took the bar of entertainment to the next level. During that period, they even took the wrestling levels a notch higher as they defended their titles under unique stipulations.

First, they stepped inside the Elimination Chamber against five teams and retained their crowns. Next, The Miz's poor health forced Vince McMahon to book a bizarre triple threat singles ladder bout at WrestleMania 36. When 'The A-Lister' came back to work, WWE used the same stipulation again because of Jimmy Uso's injury. Surprisingly, McMahon gave the titles to The New Day once again as Big E emerged victorious in the second triple threat match.

The Miz and JoMo had brought the spotlight back on the division with their heelwork. They deserved to stay at the helm for a few more months. Nevertheless, the duo received a Universal Championship shot recently.
