Although he technically surrendered his executive power after losing a handicap match to Vince and Shane McMahon at King of the Ring the night before, Steve Austin' final act as interim CEO was to put himself in a match with the WWF Champion on Raw.

The match, coming just 24 hours on from a pay-per-view on which both men had been put through the proverbial ringer, wasn't really the spectacle it might otherwise have been - but the dramatic ending more than made up for it.

The Texas Rattlesnake scored the fourth world title win of his career, putting away The Undertaker with a Stone Cold Stunner after laying waste to an interfering Paul Bearer outside the ring with a stiff right hand.

With 'Taker then attacking him after the bell, this would set up one of the best feuds of the Attitude Era. The pair shared a quite brilliant First Blood match at Fully Loaded before heading their separate ways in time for SummerSlam. It was short, but very, very sweet.
