Ranking Every WWE Title Change On Raw

2. The Rock Def. Mankind (15 February 1999)

The Rock and Mankind shared so many classic encounters at the beginning of 1999 - from the "I Quit" match at the Royal Rumble to the chaotic empty arena brawl at Halftime Heat - that their ladder bout on Raw is War the following month has been largely forgotten.

This is something of a wrestling tragedy, because it was arguably the very best of the bunch. Just as they had in their previous two clashes, the duo took their bodies to hell and back, putting on one of the greatest main events in free TV history in the process.

It was much more than great bumps too. After trading victories back and forth for the preceding three months, Rock and Foley had cultivated a genuinely personal feud which never failed to deliver on raw emotion and feeling.

Not even the fact that the match ended with interference - Big Show came down to the ring at the death, costing Mankind victory by chokeslamming him off the ladder - could take away from its being a true Monday Night Raw classic.
