Having won the 2016 Royal Rumble, Triple H became the new WWE Champion, taking that prize from Roman Reigns. Here, Reigns got his rematch in as predictable a WrestleMania match as you can get.
The match was fundamentally fine, but it was an overly-long, slow-paced match that came at the close of an absurdly lengthy 'Mania. This was a Showcase of the Immortals that clocked in at nearly six hours, with this plodding 27-minute snoozefest wrapping up the PPV.
There was a solid pop for Stephanie McMahon being put through a table, but it was boos that rang out as Reigns put Trips away with two Superman Punches and a Spear to regain the WWE Title.
