The inaugural Insurrextion PPV set the tone for the history of the show, with a mismatched undercard saved by a good main event. This time top-billing went to The Rock who defended his newly won WWE championship against Triple H and Shane McMahon in a Triple Threat match.

The undercard had some potentially great matches such as The Hardys vs. Edge and Christian, Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle, and Chris Jericho vs. Eddie Guerrero. None of these were bad as such, but they were distinctly average compared to what you know they could achieve. Elsewhere, there was weird pairings like Kane vs. Bull Buchanan, Road Dogg vs. Bradshaw, and The Dudleys facing Rikishi and Big Show (who was dressed as Rikishi). Oh...and there was an arm wrestling contest between The Kat and Terri. Groan.

Highlights of the show were the main event which was a fun match given the inclusion of Shane, who managed to freshen things up and add an extra dynamic to the rivalry. There was also The British Bulldog beating Crash for the Hardcore Championship. It was nice to see a legend receive one last hero's welcome from his adoring fans before he left the company a few weeks later.
