8. John Cena vs Kane vs Randy Orton vs Roman Reigns - WWE Battleground 2014

At Battleground in July, John Cena was again faced with not only overcoming his opponents, but also the apathy of the crowd. Rumours of a Cena/Lesnar collision had been swirling and were seemingly confirmed when the Chain Gang Soldier captured the vacant WWE WHC at Money in the Bank in June. This left creative with a month to fill until the feud could begin, so they put Cena against the three hottest superstars at the time: Randy Orton, Kane and Roman Reigns. Realistically, only Orton had any chance of dethroning the Champ. In the weeks prior they had teased tension between Reigns and Cena, but the former Shield man was still too green for the big prize. The four men told a solid (if unspectacular) story at Battleground in just under nineteen minutes. Cena pinned Kane which put both Reigns and Orton on a collision course, and their singles effort at Summerslam ended up being much better than this.
