Belittling the impressive achievements of others is never fun in professional wrestling, but I think most people can be in agreement when it comes to Sheamus' reign as WWE World Heavyweight Champion towards the end of 2015.

After winning the briefcase last year to the surprise of everyone, Sheamus cashed it in at Survivor Series after Roman Reigns won the tournament to decide a new champion, a tournament that Sheamus himself had failed to get through the first round of.

Sheamus was champion for a total of 22 days, and it was clear to everyone that this brief interlude in the Reign of Roman was merely an exercise to remove the briefcase from the equation entirely. It had become something of a lurking albatross at the time, and needed to be dealt with.

Since losing the title back to Reigns in December, Sheamus has returned to the middle of the card. His reign is memorably purely because it happened six months ago.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
