Ranking Every WWE WrestleMania Main Event - From Worst To Best
12. The Rock vs John Cena (WrestleMania 28)
The build for The Rock vs John Cena's match at WrestleMania 28 has a very credible claim to be the best in WrestleMania history. The main event of WrestleMania 28 had been set a full year in advance, as The Rock cost John Cena the WWE Championship against The Miz at WrestleMania 27. The following night on Raw, Cena and The Rock stood face-to-face, and the match was made for the following year's Mania.
What followed was a deeply personal feud that crossed the line of reality to the point that it felt like it was about more than just pro wrestling. John Cena accused The Rock of using WWE to launch his movie career, telling anyone who would listen that Dwayne Johnson cared more about himself than he did the fans who made him. When The Rock returned, Cena even went as far as to point out that 'The People's Champ' had written the cues for his promo on his wrist. The Rock was visibly shaken by this, which only added to the intrigue and intensity towards their 'Once In A Lifetime' (lol) match at WrestleMania.
John Cena walked into The Rock's home turf of Sun Life Stadium in Miami with his head held high. The Rock was determined to shove Cena's antics for the last year so far down his throat that it would come out his rear end. The match felt enormous and the image of a crestfallen John Cena sat on the ramp after losing to The Rock's thunderous Rock Bottom is one of the most iconic of his whole career.
