Ranking The Importance Level Of Every Active WWE Championship Title
6. United States Championship
Long gone are the days of John Cena's weekly U.S. Open and the title being defended in marquee matches in the main event of Raw.
Now, that isn't to say Samoa Joe is a terrible champion by any means, but it seems no one in the last four years has been able to make the United States Championship as important of a priority as Cena could. Instead, it's back to being a belt most fans forget about until it pops up on Raw or SmackDown Live.
To WWE's credit, they have been trying with the title lately, with a recent Raw Fatal 5-Way determining Joe's challenger for Stomping Grounds. Before Rey Mysterio got sidelined with an injury, he and Joe were embroiled in a heated feud over the star-spangled prize, so at least it was getting consistent television time at that point, too.
Similar to Finn Bálor, Joe is as strong of a choice as anyone to bring new eyes to the title because of how he's always been positioned as an upper-midcard player in WWE. A hotly-contested clash between Joe and Ricochet on Sunday would also boost the belt's prestige tremendously, especially if it turns into a full-fledged rivalry with Ricochet chasing Joe over the next few months.
