Ranking The Subsequent Success Of Every NXT Champion
3. Charlotte Flair
Nepotism has always been prevalent in the wrestling industry, but after five years, Charlotte's surname is an afterthought in the grand scheme of things.
Chosen to lead the NXT women's division after inaugural champion Paige made the step up to the main roster, Charlotte's reign kick-started the 'Women's Revolution' and she, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch and Bayley became one of the foundations of NXT as it became must-watch TV.
Quickly pushed into a title program on the main roster, she settled into a seemingly natural role as a heel champion. Bringing her father onboard as her manager was a hit and miss affair, but alongside Lynch and Banks, she stole the show at Wrestlemania 32 before becoming embroiled in a lengthy rivalry with the latter.
The seeming need to keep Charlotte's undefeated run in pay-per-view singles matches intact led to some questionable 'hot potato' title exchanges between the two, which would've been more excusable had it actually let to something of note. Instead 'the Queen' succumbed to her first loss against Bayley at Fastlane, which has already been mooted in Bayley's own entry as something that probably should've been saved for Wrestlemania 33.
Having moved to Smackdown in the event's aftermath, Charlotte has been largely directionless, given the show's recent insistence on collectively booking the entire women's division together. As one of the most accomplished women on the roster, however, another title program will likely never be too far away.
