Ranking The Subsequent Success Of Every NXT Champion
2. Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens wasted no time in NXT, winning the NXT Championship from Sami Zayn just two months after his December 2014 debut. He was on the main roster just over three months later, answering John Cena's United States Championship open challenge and subsequently defeating him clean in a shock upset at Elimination Chamber less than a fortnight later. His time between debuts makes his NXT tenure the shortest of any call-up to date, and he only actually appeared in fourteen televised matches overall, eight of which actually came after his first main roster appearance to build to him dropping the title to Finn Bálor.
Owens has consistently been involved in high profile storylines, scoring two Intercontinental Championship reigns in his first year before he became the second Universal Champion. This reign then became the backdrop to a hugely entertaining partnership with Chris Jericho, which was ultimately dissolved during the Festival Of Friendship, one of the most memorable Raw segments in recent, erm, memory.
Though he had to drop his title to Goldberg in insulting circumstances, Owens made the most of what he was given by moving into the United States Championship picture, having now held the belt three times between exchanges with Jericho and AJ Styles.
Now that he is just missing the WWE and Tag Team Championships, smart money would be on Owens completing his collection before long - something that would've once been unthinkable, given how obsessed the company has always been with physiques.
