Ranking The Subsequent Success Of Every NXT Champion
19. The Ascension
The Ascension dominated the NXT tag team scene for a year, holding the titles for 364 days. In retrospect, they defaulted into this position, given that they had no competition for the entire duration, with the Lucha Dragons becoming the first opponents of any real merit that they faced.
Their main roster call-up was considered long overdue when it finally occurred at the end of 2014, but although the company tried to replicate their dominance by feeding them a healthy supply of jobbers to build them up in their first few weeks, the commentary team (JBL in particular) seemed to have instructions to verbally bury them from the off.
A win against The New Age Outlaws in their debut pay-per-view bout led nowhere. Since then, Viktor's main roster loss percentage is a staggering 90%, whilst Konnor only fares slightly better at 87%. The pair's only moments of note have come in the form of a pay-per-view win over Curtis Axel and Damien Sandow, and a short-lived alliance with Cody Rhodes' Stardust character.
Since last year's brand split, the duo have continued to exist as fodder for other teams, most recently as foils for Breezango in their entertaining Fashion Files skits. They are long beyond any chance of redemption at this point, but they're not likely to vanish any time soon, given that the need for jobbers remains consistent.
