Ranking The Subsequent Success Of Every NXT Champion

18. Bo Dallas

Bo Dallas truly is the forgotten NXT champion.

His character development in NXT was organic and terrifically written. After being heavily pushed as a generic babyface, he was rejected by the spectators at Full Sail. Rather than ignoring this and continuing to force him down their throats (see: Roman Reigns), the writers instead turned him into a deluded heel that believed himself to be the apple of the fans' eyes.

It worked. After defeating Big E to become the third NXT titleholder, Bo became the champion that everybody loved to hate. His character became more and more obnoxious as his 'Bo-Lieve' catchphrase took hold - and the reception that Adrian Neville received upon finally dethroning him was far more rapturous than it would've been otherwise as a result.

The beginning of his main roster run was actually handled quite well, as it saw him participate in over-the-top celebrations at the end of unremarkable matches (and sometimes mid-match also, as can be seen in a popular GIF that sees him nonchalantly knock El Torito to the floor whilst performing a victory lap) before his '17-Bo' winning streak was cut short at the hands of R-Truth, of all people.

Bo's current run as part of the Miztourage is the most exposure he's had in some time, though it's unlikely that anything will elevate him anywhere close to the heights of any of the other men to have held the NXT title.

Alex was about to write a short biography, but he got distracted by something shiny instead.
