Ranking The Subsequent Success Of Every NXT Champion

17. Kalisto

At some point, WWE are going to have to finally admit defeat in their attempts to create a carbon copy of Rey Mysterio and replicate his success. Two different iterations of Sin Cara have amounted to almost nothing over the last six years -and Kalisto hasn't really fared much better.

Initially debuting alongside El Local (Alberto Del Rio's onetime ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez in a mask), the former Samuray Del Sol earned a tag team title opportunity against The Ascension by virtue of winning just one match. He came up short on that occasion, but then paired with Sin Cara to win the belts at the next Takeover event.

Their reign was an unspectacular one. It saw them dethroned on television by Blake And Murphy. They then proceeded to compete in several matches for the main roster titles throughout 2015, but would never emerge victorious.

A short solo push then saw Kalisto win the United States Championship from Alberto Del Rio on two separate occasions, but the peak of his reign only saw him defend it against Ryback to a mostly empty stadium on the Wrestlemania 32 pre-show.

Separated from his partner in last year's brand split, Kalisto has been lost in the shuffle since - and a recent switch to Raw has only seem him used as fodder for Braun Strowman. Why he isn't being utilised in the Cruiserweight division is anyone's guess, particularly now that Neville has gone through the entire roster and needs fresh opponents.

Alex was about to write a short biography, but he got distracted by something shiny instead.
