This was the first in an absolutely thrilling series of matches between two of the greats from the modern era. WrestleMania 17 marked the first time the American Badass had performed at the grandaddy of them all. He certainly proved the change in gimmick didn't mean WrestleMania had lost any of its importance. The match itself belonged on what many thought was the best Mania of all time. It held its own against the likes of Rock/Austin and the gimmick battle royal, cough. The match was brutal with both men laying it all on the line. The action soon left the ring and went way up into the crowd, at one point the fans found themselves embroiled in the contest. HHH would go on to take a devastating looking chokeslam from some scaffolding in what was arguably the biggest bump of his career. Once the pair had made their way back into the ring, not even the trusted sledgehammer of The Game could stop Taker gaining the victory by way of a Last Ride.
