This was the end of another journey for Taker. He has made his way to the main event of Mania 24 by winning the Elimination Chamber at the prior No Way Out event, last eliminating Batista for the win. Things were heightened in the build up to the contest as their bitter and quite twisted rivalry was put to the fore. There really isn't too much to say about the match itself, apart from that it was a classic and one of the better matches both put on at Mania. It was arguably the Rated R Superstar's finest moment as a singles competitor on the big stage. After a series of failed attempts to put the other away with a plethora of finishing moves, it was Taker that won this dig dong battle with his Hells Gate submission hold. This meant The Phenom was the champion once again and took his Streak to 16-0.
