If there was ever a rivalry that deserved to be put to bed on the grandest stage of them all, then Kane and The Undertaker's was that rivalry. It all started with Paul Bearer claiming that Taker's brother wasn't dead and was coming to the WWF to get him. Taker was alleged to have started a fire at his family's funeral home which killed his parents and his little brother, Kane. The Big Red Machine made one of the best debuts of the Attitude Era, interfering in The Phenom's Hell in a Cell match with Shawn Michaels at Badd Blood 1997. Taker looked set for the win before the lights went out. Kane's infamous four note intro hit and he came to the ring, ripping the cell door off its hinges, dismantling a referee and Tombstoning his brother in the process. In the coming months, Kane would try to force his brother into a match but to no avail. Taker refused to fight his own flesh and blood up until he cost him that casket match against Michaels. At the end of the match, Kane would lock his brother in the casket and attack it with an axe before setting it on fire. Taker would return and the match at Mania was set. The match itself was as gritty and as hard hitting as many expected. It was never going to be a contest for those wrestling purists out there. After being driven through the announce table, Taker won the match after a series of Tombstones.
