Ranking Triple H's 19 WrestleMania Matches - From Worst To Best
16. Triple H Vs. Batista (WrestleMania 21)
The rise of Batista was unintended. At a time when WWE was trying to desperately shove Randy Orton down the throats of its fans, The Animal gained tremendous momentum as the silent assassin type. He was smarter than anyone realized, completely aware of the manipulation Triple H used to keep his spot at the top of the Raw roster. No longer willing to sit back and allow his mentor to use him as a pawn in his game, Batista won the Royal Rumble and used his guaranteed title opportunity for a shot at The Cerebral Assassin and the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 21. The main event was accompanied by one of the hottest storylines in decades. With that said, it was also chapter one in a rivalry that would play out over the next two months, meaning it was significantly simpler than many had hoped. The Game controlled the match, the grizzled veteran wrestler who knew exactly what it took to emerge with his arm raised in victory. Batista, though, was a beast unlike any he had ever faced before. The Animal overwhelmed his opponent and put him away with the Batista Bomb, wrapping up lethargic main event that failed to hit the higher gears until it was too late.
