What happened: After the end of Payback, Roman Reigns versus AJ Styles was the set main event for Extreme Rules. Once again, questions surrounding Styles's true allegiances to The Club and Finn Balor's WWE debut came heavily into play, but there were no shocks during the match. Instead, Reigns and Styles had the best WWE bout of the entire year, with Styles taking an absolute beating in order to put his opponent over. In the end, Reigns took everything Styles (and The Club) had, then came back with a Spear to pin "The Phenomenal One."

Why it was good: Three words: Seth freakin' Rollins. Though fans were disappointed by Styles's loss - a loss that seemed to indicate that he wasn't getting close to the championship anytime soon - and kicking themselves for believing in him, the mood change when Rollins interrupted Reigns's celebration. This was the former WWE World Champion's first appearance since injuring his knee the previous November, and with a Pedigree on Reigns, he made it clear that he was after his championship. Meanwhile, Newark's Prudential Center shook with a thunderous pop for "The Architect."
