Ranking WWE's 2016 Pay-Per-View Endings From Worst To Best
9. Fastlane
What happened: At the Royal Rumble, Triple H won the WWE World Championship by winning the titular match, meaning that no number one contender was determined. In order to find a challenger for WrestleMania, a triple-threat bout was set for Fastlane's main event pitting former champion Roman Reigns against Rumble runner-up Dean Ambrose and overpaid choke artist Brock Lesnar. The three had an exciting (if unspectacular) contest built around the premise that Reigns could only win if he turned on Ambrose. Eventually, Reigns did pin his best friend, but managed to get to 'Mania without destroying his friendship.
Why it was meh: Again, it was just really, really obvious. It still wasn't as bad as the Royal Rumble (where a middle-aged executive went over) or WrestleMania (where everything felt like an irritating waste of time), but heading into the match, there was pretty much no question that Roman Reigns was going to come out the winner. Still, it was handled rather well, with Reigns's victory not compromising his morals and Lesnar continuing to be protected.
