Big Cass experienced a number of ups and downs personally and professionally before working taking an indies and Impact Wrestling route through to AEW, where he scored tag gold with Ricky Starks. It was something he never managed with Enzo Amore during their fondly-remembered run.
New Age Outlaws for a workrate generation, Enzo and Cass exemplified the range on offer during Triple H's NXT golden era. Perfect opening act wrestlers, the call-and-response mic work and decent hot tag formula matches made for a perfect blend underneath whatever cutting edge action might have been set for the remainder of the show. An iron-clad bond with the audience was forged, making their doomed runs at tag gold as intoxicating as they were futile.
They briefly burned bright on WWE's main roster, but ended up burning out almost as quickly. Enzo was gone by January 2018 and Cass' release followed soon afterwards, resulting in the aforementioned tumult and turnaround,
