Recap Of Honor - ROH Wrestling #304
1. Six-Man Main Event
Having lost the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Titles to Dalton Castle and “The Boys” at the Best in the World event in June, Bully Ray and the Briscoes were out for blood in this bout; looking to silence the cocky Bullet Club members and prove their dominance in six-man competition.
Meanwhile, The Bullet Club, represented by Hangman Page and The Young Bucks, were looking to maintain their global momentum by getting one over on the former champs in their own wheelhouse of a six-man tag. All of which made for a great hook heading into the main event.
A typical lightning quick, Young Bucks bout, the match was a great mix of fast-paced action with fun wrestling spots. Matt Jackson squaring up to Bully Ray made for great TV and the former Dudley Boy mocking Kenny Omega’s Terminator stance mid-ring was pure gold.
The match was simply fun viewing throughout, with the Bullet Club gaining the advantage after granting Bully Ray VIP entry into the Superkick Party. Taking turns to work over Ray, the former TNA World Champion eventually turned the tables on his opponents, catching Matt Jackson mid-dive in a huge Bubba Cutter, which allowed Bully to make the much needed tag.
Mark Briscoe got the hot tag allowing the former Six-Man Champs to take over, eventually hitting a 3B (three-man 3D) on Page. Unfortunately for them, a ref bump just prior allowed the Bucks valuable seconds to recover and pull the replacement referee out of the ring, halting the pin. The ref himself also tasted a superkick for his troubles, albeit inadvertently.
Villainous interference from the Bullet Club’s Marty Scrurll would prove the ultimate equaliser, when an umbrella shot to the back of Jay Briscoe allowed Page to cover his opponent for the victory. The Bullet Club left victorious while the enraged Briscoes exploded at ringside as Bully Ray looked on.
With a growing losing streak as trio, what this means for the team of Bully Ray and the Briscoes remains to be seen but, if the dissension and volatility seen here is anything to go by, the future of the former Six-Man Champions does not look promising.
