The Hart Foundation (co-captains), The British Bulldogs, The Powers of Pain, The Rockers and Strike Force versus Demolition (co-captains), The Brain Busters, The Bolsheviks, The Fabulous Rougeaus and The Killer Bees (with Mr. Fuji, Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan, Slick and Jimmy Hart).

A flurry of 1988 departures and their subsequent substitutions made the planning and team chemistry for that year's Survivor Series card a tad scattershot. Between Don Muraco's abrupt dismissal, Rick Martel's personal sabbatical, and 'Cowboy' Scott Casey becoming a third-string replacement on the night for B. Brian Blair, who himself was filling in for the departed Junkyard Dog, there were a plethora of holes to fill.

For the sake of the experiment, The Killer Bees turn heel after being passed over repeatedly for a tag team championship match (a root cause for Blair's departure from the company) and Rick Martel returns from sabbatical in time for the 20-man showdown.

The match unfolds similar to the original card, The Hart Foundation eliminate The Rougeaus early on in order to get them out of dodge from The British Bulldogs. Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty put on an impressive showing before sharing a disqualification with The Brain Busters. Demolition puts away Tito Santana to eliminate Strike Force, but the Tag Team Champions are counted out after being betrayed by their manager, Mr. Fuji. As The Barbarian notches the decisive fall over B. Brian Blair, The double-crossed champions clear the ring to rapturous applause.

Sole Survivor(s): The Powers of Pain (with Mr. Fuji)
