Acey Romero has reportedly asked for his release from IMPACT Wrestling, per Fightful Select. The report has since been backed up by Jon Alba.

Romero was last used during IMPACT's April tapings, with his most recent encounters including a four-team contest at Under Siege against Ace Austin and Madman Fulton, Petey Williams and TJP, and Rohit Raju and Shera, and an X Division scramble that saw New Japan's El Phantasmo earning a title bout vs. Josh Alexander, as well as playing a minor role in the Sami Callihan vs. Trey Miguel story.

Though Acey was close to hospitalisation in May due to COVID-19, he has wrestled several matches for Limitless Wrestling since then. Fightful had previously reported that both Acey and his XXXL partner Larry D were still under IMPACT contract, with Romero on a pay-per-appearance deal.

Acey signed with IMPACT prior to the 2019 Bound For Glory pay-per-view, having made a handful of appearances on their Twitch and IMPACT Plus specials. His official debut came in BFG's X Division Title ladder match that saw Ace Austin crowned champion for the first time.

As of this writing, there's currently no word on Larry D's IMPACT status.
