... and promptly loses his first match back.

Robert Roode returned to WWE television for the first time since March last night, wrestling WWE Champion Drew McIntyre in Raw's main event.

McIntyre issued an open challenge to start the segment. Dolph Ziggler came out first but was dismissed when Drew rightly pointed out that he'd already had a shot at the gold, though wrestling the Scotsman was never Ziggler's intention. Instead, he pointed up to the ramp. 'Glorious' hit, Dolph's tag team partner emerged, and the bout was set.

It was a losing effort for Roode, who was felled by the WWE Champion in approximately 10 minutes, having competed in his first bout since Elimination Chamber 2020 on 8 March.

WrestleVotes reported last week that Roode was ready to make an imminent return to WWE programming. The Canadian had been absent since the onset of the global health crisis, which rendered him unable to travel from his home country, though Bobby had been pretty directionless prior to that, having meandered since returning from a 30-day suspension for violating WWE's Wellness Policy.

It now looks like the tag team with Ziggler will be resumed, despite both men mounting individual WWE Title challenges.
