The Rock: 10 Great WWE Feuds We Never Got to See

1. Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels The Rock Probably no missed feud is worse than The Rock vs. The Heartbreak Kid. If you€™re looking for two guys who helped define the Attitude Era not named Steve Austin, it€™s Rock and Michaels. Unfortunately, a rivalry that could have been a license to print money never happened. Less than 18 months after Rock broke into WWE, HBK suffered what was thought to be a career-ending back injury that ultimately kept him sidelined for four years. When he returned in mid-2002, it was on a limited schedule that didn€™t really expand until after WrestleMania XIX. By then, The Rock was the one with a limited schedule. When Rocky returned to active competition in late 2011, it was nearly two years after Michaels had retired. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pmq-Y8xx6bE Sadly, several of The Rock and HBK€™s interactions were like the one above €“ with Michaels serving as a guest referee or authority figure of some sort. What undoubtedly would have been one of the greatest feuds in WWE history never took place, despite both men working for the company in one capacity or another for the better part of eight years. Fans would have eaten this up with a spoon. The fact that both were on the roster in 2003 and didn€™t lock up €“ with WWE creative knowing they had missed out on such an opportunity years earlier due to Michaels€™ injury €“ is criminal. On the short list of dream matches left in WWE, this one has to be at or near the top of the list. The Rock has said he would be willing to come back for another big-time match if the situation is right. Perhaps facing Shawn Michaels €“ if he€™s willing to step out of retirement for one night only €“ would meet those criteria. As fans, it€™s a pipe dream worth having.

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
