The Rock's 10 Best WWE Matches

7. The Rock vs. Steve Austin (WrestleMania 19)

Copyright: WWE Stone Cold Steve Austin Blu-rayCopyright: WWE Stone Cold Steve Austin Blu-rayThough no one watching knew it at the time, the final installment In the trilogy of WrestleMania main events between the two biggest stars of the era (and three of the biggest in history) would end up being Steve Austin€™s final match. Too often we see our favorites chug along long after they should have hung it up, putting their bodies through far more than they should to maintain their hold on that precious stardom. It€™s a feeling us regular joes can€™t relate to but it€™s easy to imagine how difficult it is to walk away from. The #1 and #1a talents in WWE had been running neck and neck for several years, always crossing paths at the big shows and never managing to make their feuds feel redundant, which is an accomplishment in and of itself. When the two titans of the industry locked horns for the final time in Seattle, Austin was determined to go out on his shield. The match was another in a string of classics from the close friends, with a heart-stopping ending sequence that saw the landing and trading of multiple finishers, before Stone Cold was finally put down for the last time with a Rock Bottom. It was a beautiful way for a guy like Austin to go out, and the right guy for him to share it with. For an even greater appreciation of the match, watch the brief WWE-produced documentary The Mania of WrestleMania. It€™s a great behind-the-scenes look at everything that went into creating this classic.
