Roman Reigns Returning To WWE Soon, SummerSlam 2025 Comeback On The Cards (WWE News)
The return of the Original Tribal Chief is imminent - but what is he going to do?
Roman Reigns - last seen in a WWE ring on the Raw after WrestleMania 41 - is set to return to the Premium Live Event stage shortly.
This is according to the connected WrestleVotes X account, which posted on June 26 that Roman's return is "on the horizon", and that "his name has popped up internally in recent weeks, typically signalling the wheels are in motion for a return heading into the biggest party of the summer". That last part, just in case you are unaware, is WWE-speak for SummerSlam.
Roman is heading back to WWE, then - but what might he do...?
Opinion - A Meeting With Seth Rollins Beckons
Over on WrestleVotes Radio, the insider has also reported that the scheduled plan for the SummerSlam main event - the second night, you'd imagine - is WWE Undisputed Champion John Cena Vs. Cody Rhodes in a WrestleMania rematch. Provided this is correct, those names can be ruled out as opponents in the process of elimination. Recalling the events of the Raw after WrestleMania further narrows down the field. Roman was beat up by debuting Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker alliance; logic would dictate that Reigns is out for revenge, particularly since Seth and Bron are aligned with his former 'Wise Man' Paul Heyman, by whom he was betrayed in Las Vegas.
On this week's episode of Monday Night Raw (June 23), Seth Rollins referenced Roman, taking credit for his ascent. That probably wasn't just thrown out there for the sake of it.
Roman Reigns Vs. Seth Rollins is a worthy main event for night one of SummerSlam. There's scope here for WWE to appease and keep both wrestlers strong; in an echo of WrestleMania X, Roman could go over Seth before Seth cashes in 24 hours later, leading to a second big match later in the year. Roman could also wrestle Bron Breakker; it's a more bold and arguably more interesting match, and would allow WWE to delay the match with Rollins. Paul Levesque does like to take his time when mapping his creative out. Roman Reigns & CM Punk Vs. Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker is also a possibility - but the two-night format probably necessitates that the biggest stars on the WWE roster are not confined to one match.
Borrowing from WrestleMania X is never a bad idea...
