Ronda Rousey's WWE Return: 10 Matches We Must See

5. Io Shirai

If NXT 2.0’s occupational gimmicks often feels like a throwback to the '90s, the likes of Mandy Rose, Toxic Attraction and Tiffany Stratton evoke the slightly more modern but no less outdated Divas era.

Legitimately one of the best pro wrestlers in the world and a star on the black and gold brand, Io Shirai no longer feels at home with the quasi divas on NXT 2.0. Fans don’t need to see the former NXT Women's Champion wearing revealing outfits to suit the 2.0 creative team’s taste for lingering cleavage shots. Io should be wrecking people, not pandering to a small, lusty section of the audience.

Nor do her supporters want to see “The Genius Of The Sky” used simply to build up newer performers. No doubt WWE are glad to have an experienced hand to lead greener talent through matches, but Shirai still has more to offer as a performer in her own right. She should be on the main roster facing an opponent every bit as credible and tough as she is.

Throwing out a challenge to “The Baddest Women On The Planet” would be the perfect way to announce her arrival on Monday or Friday nights.
