3. Shayna Baszler
Rousey and Baszler have history together as two of the Four Horsewomen of MMA along with Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke. Once Rousey arrived in WWE it seemed inevitable that the NXT Women’s Champion would be called up to join her as friend or foe on the main roster.
Duke and Shafir were also on NXT as Baszler’s lackeys at the time, so WWE had an open goal in the form of a Horsewomen vs. Horsewomen match. Failing that, there were multiple storyline options for former UFC stars Baszler and Rousey. The pairing was rife with possibilities.
It never happened at the time, but a match between the pair is something many fans still crave. Baszler and Rousey never met in the octagon either, so there’s plenty of intrigue about what they could do together.
Baszler was presented as a destroyer at 2020’s Elimination Chamber PPV but has struggled to maintain that aura ever since, spending much of her time tagging with Nia Jax. Apparently Vince McMahon didn’t warm to the MMA-inspired style that helped "The Queen Of Spades" stand out in her NXT days.
A dream feud with Rousey could be the perfect way to reignite Baszler as a singles star and remind Vinnie Mac how much he loves pushing UFC veterans.
A physical interaction was teased but not delivered at the Royal Rumble. Surely WWE won’t miss this opportunity twice?
