It’s an indictment of WWE’s creative process that the biggest stars of the women’s division in 2019 still dominate the scene three years later. It’s not like they’ve not had the raw materials. There was NXT’s formerly stacked women’s division to cherry pick from.

To call Shayna Baszler and Rhea Ripley’s spells on the main roster “uneven” would be kind. Meanwhile, injured workers like Asuka and Bayley resonate as bigger deals than the fresher wrestlers getting regular TV time.

One new star has managed to rise above the malaise to earn herself a headline spot at WrestleMania. Once there, Bianca Belair wrestled an acclaimed match and established herself as one of the most exciting new talentsin years.

Even feeding Belair to Becky Lynch at SummerSlam hasn’t entirely destroyed her aura, with fans still keen to get behind her.

“The EST of WWE” is the biggest star WWE has created in Rousey’s absence so it’s an obvious choice to put them together but the pairing also offers an intriguing dynamic.

So far we’ve seen Bianca Belair overcome more experienced and wily performers like Sasha Banks and Bayley. Now we need to see the WrestleMania headliner test her freakish strength against Ronda’s MMA-based skillset.
