Teddy Long has dismissed reports that he's set to make a sensational return to WWE screens and replace Nick Aldis as the new SmackDown GM. The WWE Hall Of Famer told listeners/viewers during an appearance on the 'Road Trip After Hours' podcast that it isn't happening.

Host Matt Davis asked Teddy if there was any truth to a claim on Facebook that he'd supplant Aldis as General Manager so the Brit could begin training for an in-ring comeback. That sounds fairly plausible, but Long has revealed he isn't some 'in emergency break glass' solution for Triple H and his creative team.

The legend is endlessly thankful for his time on screen, but has no desire to hit the road weekly at this point in his life. Long is dialled in for some signing appearances in Minneapolis for SummerSlam this August, and he worked some similar gigs over WrestleMania 42 week in Las Vegas, but that's more than enough for him in 2026.

Teddy enjoys being able to sleep in his own bed every other night, and he wouldn't be interested in returning for anything more than cameo appearances here or there.

When addressing his future, Long said this: "I’m not one of these guys that don’t know when to take the cape off. So I know when to take the cape off. I had a great run, thanks to God and Vince McMahon. So, I ain’t bitter about a thing".

Teddy is remembered fondly as one of the best authority figures in WWE history. He entered meme-like status for his weekly ability to make main event tag-team matches ("playa"), and for the line: "Tonight, you're gonna go one on one with...The Undertaker!".

A shock comeback isn't on the cards.
