Sami Zayn's shoulder injury is thought to be serious and some in the WWE locker room believe he will be out for months, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. This would be a major blow to Zayn. He has already missed time this year and has barely been active on NXT's show. He had been due to wrestle Kevin Owens for the title at NXT's next live special, but that match is now in jeopardy. It is expected that Hideo Itami or Finn Balor would take the spot if Zayn isn't available. He sustained the injury when his left shoulder went out during his entrance on Raw this week. He still worked a good match with John Cena, but he was obviously struggling with the pain. He had also been due to work the Smackdown taping, but that was scrapped due to the injury. The talented 30 year old had been out of action during March with shoulder problems, and had returned to action in early April. If he ends up with a reputation for being injury prone, it could be a major road block in WWE getting behind him. At least for now, they put him over as a big star on Raw. He was treated as something special and received thunderous reactions from his hometown crowd in Montreal. He lost the match, but John Cena put him over big time in the way it was presented. For it to be tainted with the injury is a real shame.
