Samoa Joe, who has been providing commentary duties whilst convalescing from injury, returns to WWE action on next week's episode of Monday Night Raw.

The 23 December edition of the show was pre-taped in Des Moines, Iowa's Wells Fargo Center last night, and - without revealing too much - proceedings saw the Samoan Submission Machine block the Authors of Pain's attempt to put Rey Mysterio through an announce table. Joe subsequently received a beating by the burly duo for standing up to their bullying.

At the moment, it seems as though the angle shot last night is designed to set up a six-man match between Joe, Mysterio and Kevin Owens against The AOP and Seth Rollins.

Joe, who has been out of action since September with a broken thumb, was always planned as a temporary replacement on the headset for Dio Maddin. His condition is scheduled to be re-evaluated on the 30 December Raw in Hartford, CT's XL Center.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
