'Stone Cold' Steve Austin will return to WWE for WrestleMania 38.

The pro wrestling icon responded to the invitation thrown down by Kevin Owens on this week's episode of Raw by hitting social media yesterday afternoon, confirming he'll be in the house for the big event.

In the clip, Austin speaks of wrestling his last ever WWE match 19 years prior, when he fell to The Rock at WrestleMania XIX. After living with the pain of that defeat for the best part of two decades, Austin claimed Owens had awoken something within him. KO's constant smack-talking of the state of Texas got his attention, with Austin saying the Canadian was "fixing to get his ass kicked", guaranteeing that he's going to "open up one last can of whoop-ass" when he hits Dallas.

What form this confrontation between Austin and Owens will take remains unclear. Though Austin was once believed to be in line for an actual match at 'Mania, this is now far from certain, with some other form of physical exchange between 'Stone Cold' and KO now looking likelier.

Nonetheless, WWE is now advertising Steve's appearance on The KO Show talking segment for 'Mania's first night (Saturday 2 April). Whether something bigger will come of this remains to be seen.
