Sting vs The Undertaker: 10 Angles WWE Must Play Out

2. The Match Becomes Official

After The Undertaker's sinister actions at the Rumble, Sting's motives have never been clearer; destroy the Phenom on his own turf at Wrestlemania. Meanwhile, Undertaker doesn't want a repeat of last year's 'Mania, and after seeing what Sting has done to the Wyatts, Triple H, his own brother Kane, and even himself at the Rumble, he's determined to see off Sting's challenge, even if he has to delve into the darker side of his personality.
"At Wrestlemania, I will see to it that Sting's entire being is destroyed. From here on in, all I care about is letting the whole world see what a cowardly fool he is, and when I'm done with him, he will not rest in peace; Sting, you will rot in hell."
As the weeks go by, Undertaker antagonises Sting, who himself has to turn to his darker side; brooding promos about his legacy and his life blend into unceremonious beatings of various WWE superstars, with the intention of sending a message to the Deadman. When the two men come face to face one week as Triple H conducts the contract signing, things go predictably unpredictable. Sting poses the question, "Seeing as you don't have a streak to fight for anymore, why don't you put your career on the line?", only for Undertaker to respond with, "I will, if you will". Suddenly the match gets the ultimate gravitas it deserves; a double-career match, where the loser has to retire, forever. The stage is set, the stipulation is determined, and the contract is signed. Both men will do a lot to win, but both men will do anything to not lose.
