Sting To WWE: 10 Big Talking Points

7. How Come It Has Taken So Long For Sting To Come In?

Sting's disinclination to WWE so far is said to be nothing personal, back in the early 2000's he simply didn't want a full time schedule or risk diminishing his career after the immediate fall of WCW. Instead he sat through the rest of his WCW contact after the rest of the group was bought out, taking time out to enjoy the fruits of his labour. TNA then proved a financially lucrative place to work for very little dates, with WWE in contrast being a schedule which involved many dates. The treatment of former WCW stars was also a concern, Sting is quoted as saying he didn't trust how Vince McMahon would use the Sting character after seeing the way Booker T was buried initially in his WWE run. So what's changed, why is Sting joining now? The answer could be the WWE's changed stance on part time contracts. Since The Rock and Brock Lesnar were used to great effect on a part time basis, the WWE has relaxed their previously hardline schedule demands for part timers. The WWE is now a viable option for Sting where he can make really good money for very little dates. As for protecting his character, the advent of the Hall of Fame and even the WWE Network is ensuring WCW legacies get celebrated.
