Sting To WWE: 10 Reasons His Deal Is A Mistake For All Involved

2. Age

Sting is 55 years old and will be 56 before WrestleMania 31. Is it really wise for WWE to invest in someone who is so close to sixty? Even on a two year deal Sting is going to be 58 by WrestleMania 33. What can he really contribute at such an old age? Yes many wrestlers work into old age, but usually to a pretty poor standard. This rings true for Sting who has looked an ever decreasing force in TNA over the last few years. Perhaps WWE get round the age problem by booking Sting in a none wrestling role. The problem with that is Sting's too closely associated with enigma and his facepaint. He isn't like Ric Flair who can be utilised as a manager or panelist, Sting is far more of a mysterious loner character. Sure, WWE could change him and present him as a regular veteran, but that would be a mistake for Sting to let them do that. We want to remember this guy at his prime, not as a guy who ended up an old shell. As a physical force in the ring, WWE may have came just too late in Sting's life.
