Sting To WWE: 10 Reasons His Deal Is A Mistake For All Involved

6. The Iconic Undertaker Match Is Gone

As WWE.com described it earlier this year, Sting vs Undertaker is "the most talked about match that's never happened." It was indeed a huge promotional opportunity. WWE could have sold it on the basis of 'Icon vs Icon', the two pillars of the wrestling industry finally meeting. A further factor in the feud would be the narrative of WCW's leader vs WWE's leader, the two last standing soldiers from the Monday Night War finally meeting. It was certainly a compelling match and was reportedly what WWE had in mind for the Stinger. All that went up in smoke when The Undertaker lost to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30. The significance for Sting wasn't that the streak was over, the significance was that the Undertaker lost because Vince McMahon believed the chronically injured star didn't have another match in him. That means no Undertaker match at WrestleMania 31 we presume, nullifying the major plans for Sting to come in against WWE's resident phenom. Maybe that's why the deal has stalled, with Undertaker currently out injured there's no way to do the deal they had in mind. It would be an error to simply force through the deal and put Sting against any other performer, Sting vs Undertaker was where the money was at.
