28 March 1999 will forever be remembered in history as the night a certain Texan walked into Philadelphia's SmackDown Hotel, checked right into room 3:16 and kicked some Brahma Bull ass on his way back to the top of the Federation's mountain as its champion.

In the first of three great WrestleMania matches - usually considered to be the worst one of the three - Steve Austin captured his third WWE Championship, later getting back his own badass "Smoking Skull" belt.

His beef with corporate heel Rock wouldn't stop at WrestleMania. The two feuded for another month, with Rock even hosting Austin's funeral in a hilarious segment on RAW. Finally, Austin retained in a brutal No Holds Barred Match at Backlash that overshadowed their 'Mania encounter. The Rock would go on to turn babyface the very next night on RAW.

Austin dropped the strap the following month, at the infamous Over the Edge PPV, losing to The Undertaker thanks to Shane McMahon's ridiculously fast count on Austin, setting up Austin's hilarious, albeit short, run as WWE's CEO.

This reign is spectacular and would easily be anyone else's best, but as far as Steve Austin goes? Not quite.
