Stone Cold Steve Austin's 6 WWE Title Reigns Ranked Worst To Best
2. WWE Championship (5th) 1 April 2001 - 23 September 2001
Due to him being absent for almost an entire damn year, Stone Cold Steve Austin would not touch any WWE gold from SummerSlam in August 1999 all the way until WrestleMania in April 2001.
'The Rattlesnake' finally won his first title in 16 months after joining forces with the devil himself, selling his heart and soul to Vince McMahon whilst turning heel in his own home state of Texas, in order to guarantee victory over The Rock in the main-event of WrestleMania X-Seven, arguably the greatest PPV in professional wrestling history.
While there's no doubt babyface Austin was the best Austin, he was still a fantastic villain, taking part in some of the best heel performances (both in promos and matches) this writer has ever seen and having the best in-ring year of his career since his painful neck injury at SummerSlam 1997, with brilliant classics against fresh challengers like Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Rob Van Dam and others.
Not to mention his interactions backstage, bullying undercarders like Tajiri and Spike Dudley, trying to get people into signing petitions in order to take him out of title matches, hugging Vince McMahon and even singing!
When looking back at the legendary career of Austin, this title reign stands out as unique and truly special, completely deserving of the second place on this list. With that said, only one reign can be the very best...
