The 8 Faces Of Kenny Omega

5. The Cleaner

2014 was the year when Kenny Omega decided the shadow of Ibushi had grown cold and that he would do whatever it took to be a star. 3 October 2014, Kenny signed full time with NJPW and debuted as the 'Cleaner' Kenny Omega, 8 November 2014 he debuted as the newest member of Bullet Club. By joining the villainous gaijin stable Kenny had made a statement: his star would be recognised, whether you liked it or not.

At Wrestle Kingdom 9 the 'Cleaner' competed in his first singles match at Wrestle Kingdom and won his first IWGP Junior Heavyweight title in the process. Omega would go on to defend, lose, regain and lose the Junior title throughout 2015.

The 'Cleaner' was a stark contrast to the previous incarnations of Omega. The buoyant golden curls had disappeared under a symbolic dye of black and grey. The once clean shaven Omega now sported unkempt stubble, aviator shades and an arrogant swagger. In fact, Kenny's whole presentation was dark, reminiscent of leather clad bad boys from 80s movies. Drenched in black, the 'Cleaner' made an emphatic statement with his sartorial choices.

Previously, Omega had been made so welcome by the Japanese audience because he respected Japanese culture and traditions. He learned their culture and language and sought to win the crowd's respect with his in ring prowess and success. Now, Kenny was in his 'by any means necessary' mentality and his respectful ways were left with his golden curls.
