The Best Match From Every 2021 WWE PPV
12. Sasha Banks (c) Vs. Bianca Belair (WrestleMania 37 10 April 2021)
Who can say for certain why everything about WrestleMania 37 felt so much more important?
Maybe it's because for the first time in over a calendar year, WWE was hosting a major event in front of people. Maybe it was because for the first time in what felt like forever, an unexpected rain delay allowed WWE superstars to cut spontaneous promos that weren't scripted to death to buy time until conditions cleared. Or maybe it was all of the little things that made it all seem bigger.
The better overall evening of WWE's two-night event, Night One of WrestleMania 37 produced a plethora of wonderful moments including Cesaro's first singles victory on the Grandest Stage against Seth Rollins, Shane McMahon plummeting from 15-20 feet to oblivion yet again and Bad Bunny logging arguably the single best in-ring celebrity performance in 'Mania history.
The main event, however, speaks for itself.
Sasha and Bianca would have put on a blockbuster match regardless of the PPV, but it was the little things on this night that pushed it to an entirely different ether. The emotions etched on each combatant's face during formal introductions spoke volumes. Bianca press-walking Sasha up the ring steps and back into the ring was easily one of the most enduring visuals of 2021 and there was a heightened sense of urgency with every kick out. The deafening crack of Bianca's seldom-used hair whip is still ringing in most fans' ears almost a year onward. One KOD later, The E-S-T had arrived.
