Vampiro had always worn makeup to the ring, typically black eyeliner with small points above and below the eyes, but on Monday Nitro the week following The Misfits’ arrival, he debuted a new look: a deathly, grey-white pallor, with blackened eye sockets and shading to give his face the shape of an emaciated skull. The sudden transformation was courtesy of Misfits guitarist Doyle, who gave Vampiro a version of his own stage paint. Vampiro introduced the look while being interviewed backstage by Mike Tenay. With The Misfits standing behind him, Vampiro explained that evil had found a place in the WCW.

The interview was followed immediately by Vampiro’s round-two tournament match with Buff Bagwell, and The Misfits jumped poor Buff before he could get to the ring. The band looked more confident in what they were doing this time, knocking Buff around with some worked kicks and punches before tossing him into the ring for the match. Their bumping later was horrible though, especially Doctor Chud’s mistimed flop off the ring apron. You have to give him credit for trying, though. After all, the man is a drummer, not a wrestler.

While The Misfits were trying to interfere with Bagwell, Berlyn and his bodyguard came to the ring and interfered with Vampiro, helping Bagwell secure the win. Then, while Berlyn’s bodyguard was beating up The Misfits, the tag team of Creative Control came out and beat up Berlyn, apparently as punishment for helping Bagwell.

WCW booking, everybody.
